Transmitta News - updated October 2011

Since our last update at the beginning of the year we have had our hands full with a wide-range of varied events to keep us all on our toes!

Like clockwork, the year started off with the annual Mortgage Talk Awards at St. Paul's hotel in Sheffield this year with an added conference during the day - not all play, plenty of work this year for the mortgage guys and girls!  This was followed by our usual range of healthcare seminars alongside a conference for dentists.  However, our biggest challenge was for Bourne Leisure, re-creating the set and game-show from Family Fortunes for their owner's conference and annual party - a one day build, an interesting room - but a fantastic event with a great client.

February saw us involved with the re-launch of the Athena Awards for inspirational women in the region, as well as the first of many conferences this year for our colleagues at the Specialist Schools Academies Trust.  However, most of the month was taken up with the launch of the new Ford Focus at Magna, for our friends at Imagination.  From tentative first steps at the initial site meetings, Transmitta were fairly quickly involved in providing full production facilities - rigging, lighting, sound, projection, set-build, crewing etc... in fact aside from the revolve and the main screen build we pretty much handled everything on site!  A fantastic event with another great client.

Footsey100 Trade Fair once again appeared on the calendar in March, followed by Business Link seminars and trade fair, NHS conferences and the launch of a new schizophrenia drug for Jensen and Jensen, with events across various venues including conferences and evening entertainment.

April saw Insomniacz back in Magna for some hard-house action followed by a packed May - our annual trip with the good folk at Symetri demonstrating CAD software, local elections in South Yorkshire, Radio 1 Big Weekender, an enormous science fair for Fischer and the annual President of the Chamber of Commerce Charity Ball.  This year themed around a night at the musicals it drew performers from the West End and raised a record amount of money - so job well done!

Summer saw the Sheffield Documentary Film Festival move to its new location in the calendar - more events, more venues, bigger crowds, more demands but as ever a fantastic event.  We also serviced Barnsley College's Annual Awards, Children's Media Conference in Sheffield, the launch of Digital Regions Broadband and TV roll-out and a fantastic couple of performances for Bevox, an amateur group of singers performing in a large choir for the first time.  Our biggest challenge over the early summer was the annual Schools Effectiveness Service Children's Festival in Rotherham - 38 events, 16 venues, 18 days... an absolutely incredible run of shows with everything from Shakespeare to Big Bands, choirs of 1000 singers to international conferences, TV-style cooking shows to Awards and presentations.  A BIG thank you to Fiona and all her team who helped make it all happen again!

August and it was festival season - off to V-Festival in Stafford again to build the VIP lounge and Infest in Bradford for the usual blend of Industrial Noise....

... and now Autumn is upon us.  With schools back we were straight back into corporate mode with the Ultimate Brides Wedding Fayre at the Ice Arena Sheffield, trade fair for AADKTN and off to Wembley for our colleagues at NAV Ltd for the Coca-Cola Conference.  September also saw some nice large shows - The Weston Park Charity Dinner, this year touching 900 guests and the RIBA Stirling Awards where we provided rigging and crewing services as well as site logistics for the show being filmed by the BBC.  We also had the pleasure of working with Urban Splash/ Drumro[ll]/ Article Works on a great night at the revitalised Park Hill flats in Sheffield with some full-on techno courtesy of The Black Dog, Richard H Kirk and guests.

Now it's October and planning for a wide range of Christmas events is well in hand... here we go...
